Microbial diversity in solid waste molasses of Sugar Industry, Aranthangi, Tamilnadu

چکیده
Across the world 125 to 130 million tons of sugar is produced every year. About 2/3 rd of this is produced from sugarcane and 1/3 rd from sugar beet. Sugar industry play an important role in economic growth of country but the effluent releases from the industry posses abrupt changes to water quality and cause water pollution which eventually causes health hazards. The variety of microbes present in the molasses capable to degrade the organic matter in the effluent. The present study reveals the diversity of microorganisms in industrial effluent of molasses. Totally 15 microbial species were isolated from the molasses of Aranthangi sugar industry of Tamilnadu among which six species of fungi, five bacterial species and four species of yeast.

Potential of Cellulosic Ethanol to Overcome Energy Crisis in Pakistan
Liquid biofuel industry in Pakistan may become a promising source for saving our foreign exchange and environment. Currently, bioethanol production is dependent on cane molasses, a product of sugar industry. Harnessing of more bioethanol from lignocellulosic waste crop residue has potential to respond to the fuel scarcity. Lignocellulose exists in nature as a polymer and serves as the largest s...
متن کاملBiosurfactant production in sugar beet molasses by some Pseudomonas spp.
In this study rhamnolipid biosurfactant production was investigated in eighteen strains of Pseudomonas spp.. Rhamnolipid by these strains was determined by a spectrophotometric method in nutrient broth medium (NB). From the 18 strains screened, two Pseudomonas strains (Pseudomonas luteola B17 and Pseudomonas putida B12) which had produced the highest percentage yield of rhamnolipid were examine...
متن کاملUtilization of molasses and sugar cane bagasse for production of fungal invertase in solid state fermentation using Aspergillus niger GH1
Agro-industrial wastes have been used as substrate-support in solid state fermentation for enzyme production. Molasses and sugarcane bagasse are by-products of sugar industry and can be employed as substrates for invertase production. Invertase is an important enzyme for sweeteners development. In this study, a xerophilic fungus Aspergillus niger GH1 isolated of the Mexican semi-desert, previou...
متن کاملEnzymatic Hydrolysis of Olive Industry Solid Waste into Glucose, the Precursor of Bioethanol
Olive industry solid waste (OISW) is a by-product generated in the process of olive oil extraction. It is a lignocellulosic material consisting of cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin and other extractives. In this work, a process for hydrolyzing the OISW into its monomers glucose, the precursor of bioethanol was developed. The hydrolysis process involves two stages: in the first stage, the O...
متن کاملجدا کردن رنگ کاراملی از ملاس چغدرقند و بررسی ویژیگی ها و کاربرد آن در صنایع غذایی
Molasses are produced in large amounts by sugar cane and sugar beet factories every year. However, they are considered as the waste product of the crystallization plants. Thus, although they contain significant amounts of materials with deep black colour which can be separated as food colour, molasses are very cheap and feasible to be used for this purpose. Aliquots of diluted molasses, after a...
